Richard Allen Kerns

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Richard Allen Kerns, who departed this life on August 22, 2025, at the age of 74.

Born on August 16, 1951, in Charleston, West Virginia, Richard was a devoted husband, father, co-worker, a cherished friend, and a man of quiet strength and unwavering love. He was a graduate of Belpre High School and Parkersburg Beauty College where he met his wife, Sandy, sharing over 50 years of memories together. The two of them went on to own and operate two salons, Parasol Boutique and La Vogue Hair Fashion. He dedicated his life to providing for his family and leading by example–with integrity, kindness, and humility. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy (Roush) Kerns, wife Sandra Kay (Trussell) Kerns, and daughter, Stacey Michelle Kerns.

Richard is survived by his sons, Chad and Chris, grandchildren Kristian (Bethany), Peyton, Hailey, Cecelia, Kinsley, great-grandchildren Brooks and Baylor. He also leaves behind a sister Carolyn Markley and sister-in-law, Roberta Ridenour, nieces, nephews, and cousins and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

His warmth, wisdom, and sense of humor touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A visitation will be held at 1:30 pm followed by funeral service at 2:30 pm on Friday, August 29 th at Leavitt Funeral Services, 801 Victor St, Belpre, OH 45714. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Parkersburg Humane Society.

Though he may no longer be with us in body, his legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the love he gave so freely.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
