John Charles Martin

John Charles Martin
John Charles Martin, (59), July 9, 1965-May 30, 2025, of Rising Sun, Indiana; formerly of Washington, WV, died unexpectedly from a heart event. His family and friends are deeply saddened and shocked at his sudden and untimely passing.
He grew up on the family farm in Washington, WV where he attended Fairview United Methodist Church, was a member of the Fairview 4-H Club, a graduate of Parkersburg South High School Class of 1984 and a member of their FFA group. He was an avid reader, enjoying the quiet solitude of a good book and the company of his fur-baby-cat, Lilly. When he wasn’t reading, he enjoyed spending time visiting and playing various card games with family and friends.
Those who knew John found him to be always kind, compassionate and thoughtful. He was respected by family, friends, and co-workers; whom he fondly referred to as his “work family.”
His employment included James’s Country Store, Lowes, Home Depot, Hino, and the three Casino Boats in Indiana with the last being Hollywood Casino as a full time Blackjack Dealer; a career that he loved and excelled in.
Johns’ greatest joy and achievement was that of fatherhood. Being a single father to Lindsay created many challenges, but he adored his role and placed her at the center of his universe. He was a wonderful father and lead, always with his whole heart.
John is survived by his daughter Lindsay Kimberly Martin (Billie Parrett), his father, Charles William Martin Jr., a sister, Tena R. Martin (Debbie Marsh), a brother, Aaron D. Martin, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Joni Audrey Bailey-Martin-Farnsworth-Barr and an infant daughter, Jessica Cheyenne Martin.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, July 19, 2025, from noon until 4pm at Fairview United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with snacks and drinks provided. Come join us in honoring the life of our beloved John Charles Martin.
Condolences and tributes may be sent in care of Tena R. Martin, 18 Mike Street, Washington, WV. 26181.
