Helen Marie Sapp West, 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 1, 2025.

She was born November 13, 1933, in Morgantown, WV and resided in Parkersburg.

Helen Marie retired from Public Debt at the age of 80, attended the South Parkersburg Baptist Church and was a long standing member of the choir. She loved music and reading but most of all she loved her family and instilled in them the strong values that have served them well.

She is survived by her sons, Danny (Theresa) of Parkersburg, David (Kristen) of Duluth, GA, Jeffrey (Sino) of Long Beach, CA. and her daughter in law Jean Marie (Rodney) of Doylestown, PA. Step sons, Paul and Jeff West of Mineral Wells. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Andy, Jon, Jamie, Dylan, Brian, Cody, Helena, step grandchildren, Chad, Matthew, Amber, Kelly and her great grandchildren, Jonathan, Janie, Mila and Turner.

Preceded in death by William West, Rodney Sapp, Linda Dils West and Jeffrey West.

Her life was a living example of a favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32-“And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”.

Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at South Parkersburg Baptist Church with Pastor Rich Blain officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the William B. and Helen M. West Scholarship Fund at South Parkersburg Baptist Church.
