PARKERSBURG — A group of local residents plans to launch a new chapter of the national Indivisible movement during a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. today at the Judge Black Annex, Fort Boreman Room.
Organizers said the new group, Indivisible MOV, aims to encourage civic engagement and advocacy efforts on issues ranging from health care to immigration. The group will offer a virtual option for those unable to attend in person.
“With the current state of challenges facing our democracy, we are looking to create a local group that can collaborate to influence change,” said Lori Flis, a member of the Indivisible MOV steering committee.
She cited concerns about proposed federal budget cuts and immigration policies as motivating factors.
According to its website, Indivisible is a national network of grassroots groups formed in 2016, focused on progressive policy advocacy and building democratic participation. The organization reports having thousands of local chapters nationwide.
In addition to Parkersburg, Indivisible has chapters in Pomeroy and Morgantown. Indivisible MOV can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and BlueSky
