John Arthur Campbell

John Arthur Campbell, 82, of Pullman, WV, passed away on his Family Farm on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025. He was born Aug. 1, 1942, in Pullman, WV, a son of the late E. Freeman and Reah (Black) Campbell.

In 1959, John lost his right ankle in an automobile accident while returning home from a Harrisville-Pennsboro High School basketball game. John served as the manager for the Harrisville Gator team. This accident set the precedent for the rest of his life. His quiet will and determination to live was born from this incident. He graduated from Harrisville High School with the class of 1960 and went on to attend Salem College to study drafting. After college, John moved on to his real purpose in life which was farming. He was born a farmer and died as one of the hardest working farmers around. He worked as a garment factory worker in Harrisville, WV by day and came home to farm by night John also was a skilled logger in the timber industry.

John married Linda (James) Campbell in 1965 and they were married for 54 years until her death in 2020.

John is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Knight (Tracy) of Oxford, WV; daughter in law, Kristie Campbell of Ellenboro, WV; granddaughters, Emily Klug (Matt), Chloe Campbell, and Jaycee Campbell; grandsons, Logan (Lily) Campbell, CaDan Campbell and Dylan, and Morgan Knight and fiance Krista, along with good friends, Dick and Charlene Goff of Pennsboro, WV.

In addition to his parents and wife, John is preceded in death by a son, Jason Campbell.

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2025, at the McCullough Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV with Pastor Robert Perine officiating. Burial will follow in the White Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.
