Larry N. Smith

Larry N. Smith, age 80, of Marietta Run, Petroleum, WV, departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV. Mr. Smith was born, March 15, 1944, the son of the late Jennings Smith and Christine Matheny Smith. Mr. Smith was a 1962 graduate of the former Cairo High School and attended Mountain State Business College in Parkersburg, WV. He had been employed as a Construction Engineer with the WV Department of Highways and retired as an Auditor with the WV Department of Transportation. Mr. Smith was a United States Army Veteran who actively served during the Vietnam War. Larry was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed photography and a good cup of coffee. One of his favorite conversation pieces was learning what kind of trouble his son was going to get into next.

Mr. Smith is survived by one son, Larry “Kevin” Smith (Rachel), Parkersburg, WV; one sister, Mona Region; one brother, Wayne Smith, both of Cairo, WV; and one grandchild, Akera. The Smith family would like to express a special thanks to Housecalls Hospice and the staff at Camden Clark Medical Center.

In addition to his parents, Larry Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Allen Smith and one sister, Norma Smith.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at 8 p.m. at the Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, WV, with the Reverend Tom Hall officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, from 6 p.m. until the hour of the service.
