Jean Robinson Singer
Jean Robinson Singer joined the “Ultimate Choir” on April 24, 2024. She was born on July 15, 1941, to the late Howard and Eleanor Robinson. After graduating from PHS in the Class of 1959, she pursued her love of music at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.
She returned to her Alma Mater to complete a proud and storied 30 year career as the Director of the Parkersburg High School A Cappella Choir.
From the High School Reviews to the Sports Carnivals, the creation of the Chamber Choir, the Annual Christmas and Spring Concerts and countless competitions and awards, a Tradition of Excellence was perpetuated under her direction. Through all the decades of sharing music, catching up with her former students brought her an unimaginable amount of joy.
During her successful career and life, her biggest supporter and confidant was her High School sweetheart, her late husband Don Singer. He adored her and had no issue with being referred to as “Jean Singer’s husband.”
His passing in December 2023 came as she herself was experiencing health issues. She fought this battle with strength, determination, and grace. Spending time with her grandchildren was a great comfort during this time.
She is survived by her son, Brian Singer, and his children,Bryson, Addison and Audrey Singer; her daughterDr. Amy Singer, her husband, Steven Bybee of Tucson, Arizona, and their children, Lincoln, Harper and IsaacBybee; her brother, Robert Robinson and his wife Carolyn of Charlottesville, Virginia, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Charlie.
Her family would like to give special thanks to the countless people who helped her these last few months including her faithful caregiver Amanda Gilliland, dear friends Sandy Marshall and Cathy Martin, her church family, PEO sisters, Hospice team, and the healthcare professionals who provided her with great care.
