Dawn Jackson

Dawn Jackson, 60, of Mary Esther, FL, affectionately known as Mama D, passed away peacefully at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center on Dec. 20, 2021, after a brief illness.

She was born on Jan. 8th 1961, in Philippi, WV, to Wanema Davidson Hermiz and Louis Hermiz. She was married to Russell Jackson in 2012. She attended school in Belpre, Ohio for her elementary education. She then attended high school at Warren High School, graduating in 1979.

She had a long career in the food service industry which included Pandoras and Harry T’s restaurant, where she worked for the past 14 years.

Dawn loved flowers, but had a very special talent for jewelry making. She had a wonderful smile and was kind and generous. She was a good friend, sister, and wife. She will be missed by so many. She was too young to leave us and our hearts are heavy right now.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Jackson; step-children, Benjamin and Lauren Jackson. Also surviving are siblings, Shawn Jones (Michael), and David Pritt of Vienna, WV and sister-in-law Cathy McCauslin (Darren) of Natchitoches, LA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Her fur babies, Spike and Oscar were very special to her.

She was loved by those who got to know her. She had many friends that were very supportive of her in her last few months, when she became ill, including a dear friend, Luann Miller, that she grew up with in Ohio.

A special thank you to all those that helped her.

Dawn was preceded in death by her grandparents, Madeline and Audie Davidson and Faye and Jacob Hermiz; her parents, Wanema Davidson Pritt and Louis Hermiz and in-laws Lt. Colonel Edgar Jackson and Alfie Jackson.

A special celebration was held by her friends at Harry T’s on Jan. 2nd to honor her. There will be a private ceremony at a later date where she will be laid to rest by her family.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Alaqua Animal Refuge in Freeport, FL or the Parkersburg Humane Society, Parkersburg, WV
