Officials report pedestrian fatality in Washington County

MARIETTA – A man walking on Ohio 821 in Salem Township late Friday night was struck by a car and killed, the Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. Joseph Harriman, 27, of Lower Salem was walking north on Ohio 821 near milepost 7 where he was struck by a 2010 Ford Edge driven by Mitchell Carpenter, 24, of Lowell, the patrol said. Couple sentenced for concealing body for nearly two years

WHEELING — Two people were sentenced Friday to prison terms of up to five years for concealing the remains of a man whose body went undiscovered for nearly two years, authorities said. Ohio County Prosecuting Attorney Shawn R. Turak said Christopher Riley and Sara Riley were sentenced Friday by David Sims in Ohio County Circuit Court. Each received a sentence of not less than one year nor more than five years following their convictions for concealment of a deceased human body. CHARLESTON – The state Democratic Party is now calling for the chief justice of the West Virginia Intermediate Court of Appeals to recuse himself from cases involving data centers represented by House Speaker Roger Hanshaw.
