PHS Foundation Awards Teacher Grants for 2026

PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg High School Foundation announced the recipients of the 2026 Teacher Grants with over $26,000 awarded to 16 teachers across various departments at Parkersburg High School this year.

A release from the foundation said the grants support teachers in enhancing classroom instruction and providing innovative learning opportunities for their students. It said all PHS teachers are encouraged to apply for these annual funds.

“We had an overwhelming amount of applicants this year,” said Sue Steinbeck, Teacher Grant Committee Member for Parkersburg High School Foundation, “With over $40,000 in requests, we had some hard decisions to make to stay within our budget. A huge thank you to Principal Jason Potts for his guidance in managing our budget and identifying additional funding opportunities. His support was a tremendous help in keeping us on track.”

Steinbeck said this year, the foundation had a few requests that partnered with the PHS Foundation monies to meet their overall goal.

“Mr. Dubs, Mr. White, and Ms. Berry all used outside resources along with Foundation grant monies to complete their projects,” continued Steinbeck.

The awarded grant monies went to these teachers this year:

* Susan Lynch – will use the funds to purchase a portable balance scale for AP Chemistry.

* Joshua Dubs – will use the funds to purchase digital pianos to expand the piano lab.

* Mary Eddy – will use the funds to purchase a class set of books by Elie Wiesel and Shakespeare, as well as 2 bookshelves.

* Dan White – will use the funds to purchase 12 percussion marching stands.

* Andrew Moore – will use the funds to purchase a projector and blackout curtains to upgrade AV capabilities in the Film Studies and English courses.

* Justus Robinson – will use the funds to purchase opioid technology goggles and curriculum for Health classes.

* Megan Bost – will use the funds to purchase materials for art therapy to be used as emotional support in her guidance office.

* Sherri McManaway – will use the funds to purchase mini electrophoresis equipment and supplies for Biology and Forensic Science.

* Ryan King – will use the funds to purchase anatomical models of organs for Human Anatomy and Physiology 2.

* Sam Vincent – will use the funds to purchase playing boards for the review game, Presevents.

* Amelia Roedersheimer – will use the funds to purchase a touchscreen interactive board for Health and Health Professions.

* Tamara Kuhl – will use the funds to purchase magnetic coordinate grid dry erase boards.

* Lisa Berry – will use the funds for the registration fee for the JETS Team national competition.

* Christine Walker – will use the funds to purchase materials to create 80 vocational task boxes for students in the autism program.

* Bobbie Gelpi – will use the funds to purchase materials for the Advanced Math Modeling class.

* Sara Corey – will use the funds to purchase materials to create a structured classroom, Decompression Den.

“These grants give us the opportunity to provide additional learning tools to our students,” Vincent said. “From these grants, we have seen more student engagement throughout the year.”

Each teacher who applies for the grants is responsible for obtaining the items and providing invoices to the Foundation, along with an application that states how many students the items would serve and how they would be used for learning.

The release said the foundation reached a monumental milestone this year, giving out over $500,000 in grant monies to PHS Teachers.

The Parkersburg High School Foundation was established in 1988 to support the

educational and extracurricular programs at Parkersburg High School. The Teacher Grant program is one of several initiatives the foundation sponsors annually.
