WALKER – A home on Jericho Road was completely destroyed by fire on Thursday.

The Deerwalk Volunteer Fire Department, the East Wood Volunteer Fire Department and the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire at 1299 Jericho Road in the Walker area, said Deerwalk Assistant Chief Mark Hendershot.

Fire officials said the call came in at 12:05 p.m. and the structure had pretty much burned to the ground by the time crews arrived on the scene 5-6 minutes later.

Crews had the fire out in a few minutes with “a couple loads of water,” Hendershot said.

No people or pets were home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The Wood County Fire Investigation Team is investigating the cause.
