Scot Heckert announces West Virginia House reelection bid

Scot Heckert

PARKERSBURG — Delegate Scot Heckert has announced his intention to seek reelection to the West Virginia House of Delegates’ 13th District.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to represent the people of Wood County,” Heckert said in a press release issued by his campaign. “I have listened to the concerns of our folks, fought hard, and delivered on what matters most so we can keep West Virginia the best place our friends and neighbors can live and work with a better quality of life.”

Heckert is a native West Virginian, who served as vice president of the American Riverboat Company prior to his election and remains active in the business community.

“Everyone says we need more jobs, a stronger economy, more money for schools and a safer environment for our kids to grow up,” Heckert said. “I have fought from day one to ensure that those needs are met, regardless of where the opposition has come from.”

His key priorities for another term include expanding jobs and economic development, standing up for conservative values and common sense, and supporting veterans, public safety and EMS, the release said.

“This next session, we have to make sure that we keep our priorities straight: more jobs, a stronger economy, public safety and creating more opportunities for our kids to be able to thrive right here at home,” Heckert said.

The release also noted Heckert was recently appointed to the Legislature’s Interim Committee on Special Investigations.
