Mid-Ohio Valley authorities make drug, prostitution arrests

ST. MARYS — Three separate incidents around the region resulted in arrests for drug sales, prostitution and a car chase.
According to the Pleasants County Sheriff’s Office, Darlene Fay Scott, 60, of St. Marys, was pulled over for a traffic stop on Dec. 29. After a search by police dog Wreck-It, Scott was discovered to have drugs in the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
A search of the vehicle revealed about 1 gram of methamphetamine, several prescription pills and cash, according to the sheriff’s department.
The street value of the drugs was about $2,000 and Scott was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, the department said.
Last week in Jackson County, a patrolman of the Ripley Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle, the police department said. The driver attempted to flee, but was stopped and three individuals exited the vehicle, the department said
With assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, a man and woman were arrested and later that morning, the driver was found and arrested.
The driver, Shalako Pierce, had a warrant out of Ohio for failing to appear on charges of sexual offense and was being charged with fleeing, police said. He was being held at South Central Regional Jail.
Cody Baldwin-Neiswanger of Ohio also was arrested and had a warrant for a charge of sexual assault of a minor out of Ohio. He was being held at South Central Regional Jail.
The female arrested is a juvenile who is a runway from Ohio and is awaiting pickup from Ohio Juvenile Services, according to the Ripley Police Department.
Over the weekend, a Parkersburg woman was arrested on charges she attempted to solicit an undercover officer for sex work.
According to the criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court, Dava Diane Darling, 31, 817 Quincy St. Apt. C, Parkersburg, met with the undercover officer from the Parkersburg Police Department at a hotel in Parkersburg.
The meeting was arranged by the police department in response to an ad Darling posted online saying she would perform sexual acts for $80 per half hour or $170 for a full hour, the complaint said.
Darling entered the room and agreed to have intercourse with the undercover officer in exchange for money, the complaint said. She was then arrested and charged with prostitution, house of ill fame and assignation and was released on a $1,500 surety bond.
