One fatality reported in Wood County car crash

MINERAL WELLS — One fatality was reported and two people were taken to the hospital following a two-car crash at 4827 Elizabeth Pike in Mineral Wells at 10:50 a.m. Friday.

According to Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens, Ezra Lee Carder, 20, of Elizabeth, was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS personnel.

Stephens said Carder was alone and operating a 2011 Scion traveling southbound headed towards Elizabeth.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that Carder lost control and crossed into the southbound lane,” he said.

Stephens said Carder’s vehicle was then struck by a northbound 2012 Chrysler van driven by Barry Miller of Creston. Miller and a passenger were both transported to Camden Clark Medical Center by ambulance.

Stephens said the crash is being investigated by the Wood County Crash Team. The Mineral Wells and Lubeck VVFDs, St. Joseph Ambulance and Wood County Coroner Mike St. Clair responded to the scene.
