Reservation deadline approaching for Young at Heart contractor event

PARKERSBURG – Two local owners of construction companies will share tips for hiring contractors and handymen at Parkersburg’s First United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 14, as part of the church’s Young at Heart senior ministry. The program will be held downstairs in the Juliana Street church’s Fellowship Hall. Doors open at 10:45 a.m., with the program beginning at 11:30. Freedom from Religion Foundation says prayers at Ravenswood Council meetings stopped

RAVENSWOOD – An organization working to keep church and state separate said Ravenswood City Council will no longer deliver religious invocations at official meetings. In a news release from the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), the organization said it wrote a letter to Mayor Josh Miller after a concerned community member reported that at the Jan. 20 public meeting, Council Member Todd Ritchie began by leading a prayer.
