CHARLESTON — Active coronavirus cases have exceeded 21,000 in West Virginia, the Department of Health and Human Resources reported on Monday. The state reported 21,417 cases of the COVID-19 virus, about 4,600 cases higher than Friday’s pandemic update. The state also reported 3,378 new cases received from Sunday to Monday. CHARLESTON — Statewide hospitalizations in West Virginia are nearing the September high mark, according to the latest numbers from the Department of Health and Human Resources on Friday. Cases were at 980 on Friday, the department said on the coronavirus dashboard. The high mark on hospitalizations was 1,012 on Sept. 24.
