CHARLESTON — Active COVID-19 cases edged upward in West Virginia on Thursday, with no deaths reported for the second consecutive day. There were 1,025 new cases reported between Wednesday and Thursday’s updates from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. With other cases going off of active status, the new total Thursday was 2,764, up from 2,640 the previous day. Roane County sees jump in COVID cases

PARKERSBURG — Roane County saw an increase of two dozen active COVID-19 cases over the holiday weekend, according to the latest data from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The county had 35 cases as of the Friday morning update, but on Tuesday the total had risen to 59. CHARLESTON — Active COVID-19 cases rose another consecutive day from Thursday to Friday, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Active cases were at 3,362 on Friday, up 211 from 3,151 on Thursday. The state also reported 996 new cases were received since the last report on Thursday. CHARLESTON — Active cases statewide in West Virginia rose by 171 between Wednesday and Thursday mornings, the Department of Health and Human Resources said on Thursday. Active cases were 3,151 on Thursday, compared to 2,980 on Wednesday, according to the state. The state also received 1,109 new cases of the virus since the last update on Wednesday. CHARLESTON — Another nine deaths have been attributed to the COVID-19 coronavirus in West Virginia between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Department of Health and Human Resources reported Wednesday morning.
