MORGANTOWN — Members of the Parkersburg South High School Chamber Ensemble performed the National Anthem on Tuesday night in Morgantown before the start of the West Virginia University men’s basketball game against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
The group is made up of 34 students from grades 10-12. Choir director Jennifer Ratliff said the college reached out to the group in the fall and asked if they’d perform during a game this year.
“They gave us a couple options and this was the one we picked,” Ratliff said, adding some of the students left the game after halftime because it was a school night but some elected to stay with their parents and watch the entire game.
She said the group, which performs competitively, is headed to Williamsburg, Va., for a major competition at the end of April and will also be performing Friday at the girls’ basketball game against Parkersburg High School. (Photos by David Pennock)
