West Virginia State Police announce sobriety checkpoint

PARKERSBURG – The West Virginia State Police’s Parkersburg Detachment will conduct a sobriety checkpoint from 6 p.m. to midnight Wednesday on West Virginia 95 near Kemper Street.

The purpose of the checkpoint, in conjunction with the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention, is to prevent and deter impaired driving.

The checkpoint may be moved to West Virginia 47 in front of the detachment if the primary location becomes unsafe due to traffic conditions or if a hazardous situation arises.

Motorists who wish to avoid the checkpoint can use an alternate route.
