Harvest Moon Festival set for Saturday
From staff reports
PARKERSBURG — The annual Harvest Moon Festival at City Park will only be one day this year instead of two, but organizers are expanding the hours on Saturday.
“We just decided with logistic changes this year with the park, we’re going down to one day,” said Bill Vincent, Wood County Recreation director. “It’s not necessarily permanent.”
As with the West Virginia State Honey Festival in August, construction of Parkersburg’s new activity and recreation center has changed the footprint for the Harvest Moon, an annual arts and crafts event whose proceeds support Wood County Recreation’s activities for youth. Vendor booths and other activities will be set up near the Band Shell.
The festival will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, an hour earlier than usual, and go until 7 p.m., two hours later than previous years. Admission is $5 per person, with children 3 and under admitted free.
In addition to the work of artisans and crafters, the event will include food trucks, a petting zoo, inflatables, children’s crafts, caricatures and live music.
“Everyone can come out as a family,” Vincent said.
The entertainment schedule is:
* 10 a.m. – Insured Sound
* Noon – Parkersburg South High School’s Southern Belles
* 1 p.m. – Band of Brothers
* 3 p.m. – Lex Bouman Band
Another act is expected to be announced for the later afternoon/evening.
