PARKERSBURG — The paintings of multi-talented artist Penny Channell will be on display at WesBanco Bank during September.
Channell is an artist who knew at an early age when she started drawing that art would be a major passion in her life.
“I love studying people, their facial expressions, and mannerisms. Art to me is my therapy and a very healthy outlet,” said Channell.
Channell works in oils and acrylics and paints every day. Recently she has taught two different art classes that were a fun endeavor for her.
Channell does consignment painting and has found that the subject matter most people want are the animals they love or something sentimental to the family such as the homestead or farm. The painting process that she has adopted is layering the acrylic colors to get the effect she wants to achieve in a painting. She loves all colors, styles, and subjects and always tries to have interesting subject matters.
“People love art that touches their heart–something that speaks to them. I have sold a lot of paintings, and each piece usually speaks to that person,” noted Channell, adding a section in this display is of her Christian paintings.
She has exhibited her art at various locations and at the Parkersburg Art Center, Artsbridge, and Grand Central Mall. She did her first solo art exhibit at WesBanco several years ago. Channell may be reached at channellps@gmail.com.
The Penny Channell art exhibit will be on display at WesBanco Bank, 415 Market St., during September. Channell’s exhibit may be viewed during regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
