PARKERSBURG — Residents looking for a way to give back and strengthen the community can do so in three simple, but powerful, ways to support local nonprofits and their causes, especially during Give Local MOV on May 6, the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation says.

The ways are to donate, volunteer and advocate.

Make an online donation at www.GiveLocalMOV.org on May 6 to support a favorite area nonprofit. Every gift, large or small, makes a difference here at home. With a minimum donation of $10, it’s easy to get involved and show support.

A way to help all 67 participating organizations is to Donate to the Give Local MOV Stretch Pool.

Gifts to the Stretch Pool are evenly divided among all participating nonprofits, helping them continue their essential work in the region.

Nonprofits rely on volunteers to carry out their missions. Ask a favorite local organization on how you can help or go to www.GiveLocalMOV.org to explore volunteer opportunities listed on nonprofit profile pages.

Advocate by speaking up for the causes and agencies and raise awareness by sharing their stories and needs on social networks, online and in person.

A kind word or post can go a long way in amplifying their reach.

Like and follow the Give Local MOV Facebook page, @GiveLocalMOV, for updates, inspiration and shareable content.

Encourage others to give, volunteer, or simply spread the word.

Starting at $2.99/week.
