PARKERSBURG — The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley has announced it will consolidate its retail operations into one location.
The Arc will combine its thrift Shop on Broadway Avenue into its shop at 1915 Dudley Ave. near Parkersburg High School effective Nov. 2, 2025.
The decision to close the Broadway Avenue store, which opened in November 2003, is part of a strategic initiative to improve efficiency and the overall customer experience, according to Michelle Curtis, executive director of The Arc.
The Arc for 70 years has represented and promoted the well-being and a productive life for children and adults with intellectual, cognitive and related developmental disabilities.
“By closing the Broadway Avenue site, this will allow for greater efficiency and allow us to streamline operations so that we can offer great deals at our online store as well,” Curtis said.

Consolidation allows The Arc to focus resources, staffing and inventory management on a single improved location, ensuring a more consistent and better shopping experience for customers and greater operational effectiveness.
The Arc encourages customers to visit the expanded Dudley Avenue shop and customers can continue to find unique items through the organization’s online store. The online shop is accessible at The Arc Thrift Shops – Parkersburg, WV Facebook page.
To prepare for the closure of the Broadway Avenue site, The Arc Thrift Shops immediately will offer special weekly deals.
The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley appreciates the customers, donors and volunteers who have supported the Broadway Avenue location for more than 20 years, said Augusta Cox, The Arc Thrift Shop manager.
“We are deeply grateful to our southside customers, donors and volunteers for your incredible support over the past two decades. We look forward to welcoming you all at our enhanced Dudley Avenue Shop,” Cox said. “Special thanks to the Junior League of Parkersburg, Family Carpet, and the National Council on Aging program as well.”
The original thrift store at 904 Broadway Ave. was damaged by strong winds in December 2015. The store was closed and the building was razed, displacing a family in the upstairs apartment.
