Meet Me on Market to celebrate the end of Summer this Friday

PARKERSBURG — The final Meet Me on Market program in downtown Parkersburg will be Friday from 5-7:30 p.m.,the final one of the season for the first-year event.

Held on the third Friday from May through September, the monthly event has become a favorite gathering place, filling Market Street with live music, art, food, and community spirit, organizers said.

The closing evening will feature performances from the participants in the Actor’s Guild of Parkersburg’s upcoming “Hee Haw” fundraiser. Parkersburg Brewing Company will also be featuring live musicians and brewery tours with music outside until 8 p.m. then moving indoors for late evening visitors

ArtBeat Studio will host a $10 ghostly crafting class and the Wood County Society’s Art From the Heart Shop will be open all evening. Also in the Wood County Society parking lot visitors can check out some hot art making with the crew from the PAC Pottery Studio as they fire up their raku kiln.

At the Parkersburg Art Center, guests can enjoy a PODA bar, the final day of the Ki No Kaze Bonsai Club show of artful trees, three textile exhibits, and the LEGO Zone. The Market at the PAC will stay open late with a free art raffle, snacks and sidewalk sale items.

First Chapter Bookstore is welcoming two authors, giving away gift cards, and unveiling a new community comment wall. WineDown on Market will offer fall menu items along with PODA drinks.

SIPS Coffee Truck debuts its brand-new truck, “Poppy,” with giveaways that include signed Bobby Rosenstock prints. Visitors can also try their luck at chipping away at a block of ice to uncover hidden gift cards ranging from $5 to $50.

New artful vendors will be at Highmark Plaza through Simply Kin Market, and fire cupping demonstrations will be provided by Rooted Wellness. Along Market Street, Downtown PKB will be hosting an art vendor, West Virginia University at Parkersburg will be bringing yard games to the sidewalks and the Humane Society of Parkersburg will be walking some of the many adoptable dogs from the shelter.

BINGO cards can be picked up from a participating business and complete a line for a chance to win a downtown business prize bundle.
