Bookings with Contour available from Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport

WILLIAMSTOWN — Passengers can continue to book flights aboard Contour Airlines from the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport after the end of the month and into next year.
That hadn’t been an option as the Tennessee-based carrier was preparing to wind down its operations at the local airport with a new company set to provide federally subsidized Essential Air Service beginning Oct. 1.
Air Wisconsin was selected in August by the U.S. Department of Transportation to provide service between the local airport and Charlotte-Douglas International Airport aboard 50-seat regional jets. Airport officials objected to the choice, questioning Air Wisconsin’s ability to perform the service and its financial solvency.
Earlier this month, Air Wisconsin withdrew from the contract, saying the airline had decided to change its strategic direction. The company is being sold.
The DOT issued an order saying the contract would be rebid. In the meantime, Contour will continue providing flights to Charlotte aboard its 30-seat jets through April 26, 2026, or until a new carrier is chosen.
Airport Manager Ben Auville said this week that the flights will continue to stop in Beckley. Raleigh County Memorial Airport asked that its Essential Air Service be separated from the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport in its new contract.
