CINCINNATI — A former Washington State College of Ohio dean, high school principal and superintendent has joined a Cincinnati engineering company.
Dan Leffingwell was hired as a client relationship manager at SHP, a leading architecture, design and engineering firm.
“I’m so excited to join the SHP team,” Leffingwell said. “In my tenure as an educator, SHP always played a pivotal role in our district improvements and efforts to transform educational experiences for both our staff and students. I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve others in that same capacity, continuing the SHP tradition of ‘simply helping people.'”
Leffingwell has 36 years of academic and administrative experience. Most recently, he was the dean of engineering and business at Washington State College of Ohio in Marietta where he made significant contributions to both the academic and business communities. He also was the superintendent of Noble Local Schools and has been a teacher and principal.
In 2022, he was the Ohio State Superintendent of the Year award, recognizing his contributions to education. Before his tenure at Washington State, Leffingwell held key positions including director of innovation, legislative services and operations at the East Central Ohio Educational Service Center and director of the Appalachian STEM Collaborative.
“Dan Leffingwell’s wealth of experience and his proven track record in leadership and innovation make him a valuable addition to SHP,” said Shea McMahon, SHP vice president. “His diverse background in education and commitment to fostering strong relationships will play a pivotal role in enhancing our client relationship strategies.”
Leffingwell has a master’s in educational administration-leadership from Ohio University and a bachelor’s in English from Marietta College.
