BELPRE — Joe and Amy Carte, owners of Leroy’s Antiques and Collectibles, love antiquing and the community it brings with it.
Leroy’s Antiques and Collectibles, a vendor mall, at 1301 Washington Blvd. Suite D in Belpre, opened Friday.
Carte said while he is newer to the antiquing scene, his wife has been collecting for over 25 years. Carte enjoys connecting with others through childhood trinkets.
“I like socializing with the people, all the different odds and ends and things that bring back memories of when you were a kid playing with toys,” he said.
Carte said their collection of antiques ranges from a variety of different things like Matchbox cars to fans that were used in the 1800s for funerals. They offer old collectibles, vintage toys, board games, signage, clothing, Disney antiques and an abundance of other goods.

Carte and his wife named the store after their Pitbull, Leroy, who they love dearly.
“He’s the heart and soul of this place,” he said.
Carte said he thinks the store will do well in Belpre, since it’s the only antique shop left in the area. Carte and his wife have been antique vendors in the area for about five years, but had to move when the building they were vending from was bought.
“Everyone is grateful that we’re still even able to be open,” he said. “The community is what keeps us open.”
Leroy’s Antiques and Collectibles is located next to Boxers Beds and Biscuits in Belpre and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
