VINCENT — Sweetapple Farm, a family farm at 149 Sweetapple Road, attracts visitors from all around.

The farm brings families together during the fall season, from its corn maze games to its build-a-scarecrow experience.

The family atmosphere doesn’t stop there, the farm is run by the Barrett family, with owner Mona Barrett and her family running the farm for 23 years.

“We have many families that come back year after year, it’s so good,” said Barrett.

This year’s theme is the Itsy Bitsy Spider, “it’s to teach how spiders and other insects affect farming and land,” she said.

The farm does a variety of activities and rentals for parties, weddings and overnights in the farmhouse making this attraction available to many facets of enjoyment for its visitors.

“We have our own grass-fed beef,” said Barrett speaking of the food provided in the country store on the farm, where they sell everything from apples, jams and jellies, t-shirts and hats to hot food and cider.

“I love what I do,” she said. “It’s wonderful, and we love our people that come here. There are so many that tell us ‘we come every year,’ and they come from all around to see us. We have had people come from Cambridge, Mineral Wells, Ritchie County, W.Va., and farther.”

After Mona’s husband Jim died, she decided to expand the pumpkin patch to create a place for people to come and experience the autumn harvest time, what used to be a dairy farm is now what is known as the Sweetapple Farm, deriving its name from their very first dairy cow.

Farm admission is $7 per person ages 2 and up. Farm admission includes the corn maze (three games in the maze to play), animal areas, kids-hay-maze, wooden milking cows, garden areas with giant xylophone, rhythm garden, giant bird nests, and photo opportunities.

The farm does have handicap-accessible parking, but it also accepts drop-offs at the check-in station at the front; the hayride wagon is also handicap-accessible.
