Marietta CVB attends legislative day

MARIETTA — A local tourism official attended the Ohio Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus 2019 Ohio Tourism Legislative Day on May 7.
“Marietta is the first settlement in the northwest territory and the first city in Ohio,” said Deana Clark, executive director of the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We have quite a story to tell of our significance to the country’s history, and we also have a lovely, vibrant community filled with wonderful tourist attractions for all ages. Our CVB welcomes all to come and experience our warmth and hospitality throughout Washington County.”
Legislative Day is held during National Travel and Tourism Week and is an opportunity for participants to meet with elected representatives and talk tourism. The day is a collaboration of the Ohio Assoviation of Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Ohio Travel Association and the Ohio Hotel and Lodging Association.
The Ohio Tourism Works Legislative Reception for legislators and participants also was held.
Clark said she spoke with legislators and told them the importance of supporting travel and specifically future tourist attractions in Washington County.
On May 8, 100 visitor bureaus, tourist destinations and attractions from across the state held Ohio Tourism Day on the statehouse lawn. Tourism is a $46 billion industry in Ohio.
