Letter to the Editor: Retirees forgotten

Gov. Justice just announced another surplus and can't decide what they are going to do with it. I retired in 1997 from Wood County Schools after serving as teacher, principal and assistant superintendent for almost 40 years.

My state pension today is the same as it was in 1997 when I retired. Think about that. Accounting for inflation, what cost $1,000 in 1997 today costs $1,900.

When I recently asked a local legislator when we could expect them to do something for us, he said "never." Think about that.
