Point Park concert series in review

By Jessica Strickler 3 min read

With our last concert on the horizon, Downtown PKB will be wrapping up the 2019 Point Park Concert Series this coming Friday on September 6. Tom Watt, The Buffettman m the icon himself has been entertaining audiences around the U.S. and Canada, Caribbean Islands and the Bahamas for more than 20 years. Not only does his show celebrate the music and spirit of the Jimmy Buffett concert experience, but Tom is the only Jimmy Buffett impersonator who both looks and sounds like Jimmy himself!

The concert will be held at Point Park beginning at 8 p.m. If it should rain, the concert will be moved to the covered stage at Bicentennial Park. We will notify the community on our Facebook page if there is a change. This summer we have been fortunate to have all of our concerts outside at the Point, and we are hoping our lucky streak continues with this final concert.

The Point Park Concert Series are free-admission concerts for our community located at Point Park in Downtown Parkersburg. They would not be possible without the financial support from one of our donors, The Ross Foundation. For the past several years, they have graciously provided funding to Downtown PKB to help provide tribute band concerts to the community. We were also fortunate this summer to have McClinton Mitsubishi, located on 7th Street in Parkersburg, return as our title sponsor. Downtown PKB would like to thank Ginny, Wyn and Cotton Bowden and their staff for supporting our concert series and investing in downtown. Downtown PKB's 2019 Concert Series also had support, both in-kind and monetarily, from several businesses: Chapman Printing, the Blennerhassett Hotel, the City of Parkersburg, WesBanco, CAS Cable, Memorial Health System, United Bank, CareSource and West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

This summer also saw the return of our popular reserved seating. In-an-effort to offset the expenses of the concert series, Downtown PKB has been selling reserved seating on a first come, first serve basis to concert fans through our Facebook page and on our website. Reserved seating sold for $80, which guaranteed your seat at our four concerts. At the end of the concert series, those who purchased seats will take home the chair they sat in at the concerts. Chairs for the 2020 Point Park Concert Series will go on sale next year in April on our Facebook page and on our website.

Finally, many thanks to the Belpre High School football team and coaches for their assistance at each of our concerts with the set up and tear down of chairs. If your school or organization would like to help with set up and tear down for the 2020 season as a fundraiser, call the Downtown PKB office at (304) 865-0522. This would be on a first come basis.
