Immigration hypocrisy

President Trump once generously offered to allow 1.8 million DACA recipients to remain in the U.S. and put them on a path to future citizenship. In exchange for his offer, Trump asked funding for a southern border wall, an end to chain migration and an end to the diversity immigration lottery.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi immediately rejected Trump’s offer.

By making his offer, President Trump brilliantly exposed the Democrats as hypocrites, showing that they don’t really care about the DACA recipients. The Democrats know if they accept Trump’s offer, Trump will get the credit and they will lose an issue for upcoming elections.

On the other hand, the Democrats are aware if they reject Trump’s offer, they could receive the blame for no DACA deal, giving the Republicans the issue to use against them, in the upcoming elections. The truth is the far left doesn’t want our southern border secured. As long as the border is wide open and illegals are pouring across, there is the possibility of more potential Democratic voters for the future. The far left seeks to grant illegals amnesty and eventual voting rights. The far left is aware that immigrants generally vote Democratic, making the future electorate more liberal.

Less conservative Republicans are as bad as the Democrats in supporting illegal immigration, although for a different reason. They want illegal immigration to provide companies in their voting districts with a source of cheap labor.

Therefore, both political parties have to shoulder some of the blame for the problem of illegal immigration.

DACA and illegal immigration hasn’t been in the headlines much lately, but it’s likely to be back in the news as an issue in the 2018 election.

As for President Trump referring to MS-13 gang members as animals, that was an insult to our four-legged friends. He should have referred to MS-13 as subhumans, savages or monsters. I hope Trump doesn’t refer to MS-13 as ogres. That would be an insult to Shrek.
