Joann Gaston

Joann Gaston, 79, of Pennsboro, WV, departed this life on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Pine View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisville, WV.

Joann was born August 9, 1939, in Doddridge County, WV, a daughter of the late Ora D. and Nancy Gay (Cottrill) Seese. She was retired as a cook for Creed Collins Elementary School in Pennsboro, WV after 28 years of service. Joann was a graduate of Doddridge County High School with the class of 1957 and she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Pennsboro, WV where she sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Pennsboro Woman’s Club, Order of Eastern Star #26 of Pennsboro, WV, and one of founding members of the Ritchie County Emergency Squad, Pennsboro Division.

She is survived by her two sons, Micheal Gaston (Terrie) of Bethesda, OH and John Gaston (Judy) of Pennsboro, WV; 4 grandsons, Jonathan Gaston (Vicki) of Pennsboro, WV; Zachery Gaston (Dana) of Bethesda, OH; Issac Gaston (Brenda) of Bristow, VA; Grant Gaston (Stephanie) Carrick, PA; 2 granddaughters, Ashley Gaston of Carrick, PA; Katie Gaston of Bethesda, OH; great grandchildren, Emma, Blake, Silas, Lauren, Gia, and Hannah, and her two sisters, Guilda Ash of Sedalia, WV and Mary Lou Bates of Centerpoint, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ira Nelson Gaston in 2016; brothers, Ora D. Seese, Jr.; Roy “Putt” Seese; Jack Seese; Conard Seese, and infant, Clarice Ralph Seese, along with her sisters, Audrey White, Phyllis “Fidge” White, and Iris Stone.

Funeral services will be 1p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV with Rev. Bill Durst officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Harmony Masonic Cemetery in Pennsboro, WV. Visitation will be from 4 – 8p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.
