Betty Jean Cox, 74, of Belpre, Ohio,, died Saturday, September 2, 2017, at her home. She was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Forest and Gertha (Boise) Melrose.
She retired from Public Debt and was a member of Slate United Methodist Church. She loved NASCAR and her cats, Bear and Baby.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelley Cremeans (Dave) of Belpre; son, Douglas Cox of Belpre; three grandchildren, Traci, Matt, and Lexie; two sisters, Cisley Sommerville of Elizabeth and Shirley Shaffer of Marietta; a brother, James Melrose of Florida; and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cox.
According to her wishes there will be no visitation or services. Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, is assisting the family with arrangements.
