Herman Joseph "Joe" Vogel Jr., 75, of Vienna, died March 10, 2017, at the Arbors of Marietta. He was born September 3, 1941, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Herman Joseph Vogel Sr. and Clara Audra McGinnis Vogel.
Joe retired from Corning Glass after 32 years of service and served in the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years. He attended Peoples Church of Boaz, was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the "Handy Man" Club. He volunteered for the Boy Scouts and as a coach for Vienna Recreation. He also served as president of the PHS Big Red Band Boosters.
He is survived by three children, Herman J. "Chip" Vogel III and wife, Kelly, of Spartanburg, S.C., Sheila K. and Sharon S. Vogel, both of Vienna; four grandchildren, Jordan Pucci, Zachary Vogel, Brianna Vogel, Mia Vogel; and one sister, Rebecca Russell of North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Snyder Vogel; and one brother, James Vogel.
Services will be Monday 3 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg with Pastor Rick Kapple officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be today 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
