Robert “Bob” Stout

Robert “Bob” Stout

Robert “Bob” Stout, 74, of Parkersburg passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his daughters on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, just as he wished. He was born November 3, 1942, in Parkersburg to Walter “Bill” and Geneva (Knicely) Stout. Bob was a 1960 graduate of Parkersburg High School and remained a lifelong fan of his beloved Big Reds. He retired in 2004 from Wood County Recreation Commission as Director and Sports Coordinator. He loved sports of any kind. Words can’t express the love Bob had for the youth of Wood County Recreation and the many years that he spent there.

He is survived by his daughters, April Cleland, Penny (Jason) Deem and a son, William “Billy” Stout all of Parkersburg. He was “Papaw” to Kayla & Madelyn Cleland, Courtney & Carson Deem and Braden & Abigail Stout all of Parkersburg. He was the self- proclaimed “best brother ever” to his sister Kathy (Butch) Conley of Laughlin, Nevada. He is survived by his aunt June Allman of Parkersburg and several nieces, nephews, brother & sister in laws, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt Mildred Miller and his former wife and lifelong friend Rebecca “Becky” Stout. One of the most treasured attributes our mother and father showed our family is selfless love. There was never a time their love for us was ever questioned. Even after they divorced, they continued to be the best of friends and never missed a single holiday, birthday or opportunity to spend with their 6 beloved grandchildren. Although another link in our family chain has been broken, the love and strength they possess are left behind to see us through as we know this is not “goodbye,” only “until I see you again.”

The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Housecalls Hospice Jennifer, Theresa and all the wonderful nurses who ensured comfort to our dad in his final days.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 24, 2017, with Pastor Larry Dale officiating, at 6:00 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman South Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of services on Friday. A gathering of family and friends will immediately follow services at the VFW Post 1212, 1630 Garfield Avenue, Parkersburg. Everyone is welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to a local youth activity in our Dad’s honor.
