PARKERSBURG -- A Thursday afternoon fire damaged a Parkersburg home but no injuries were reported among the occupants or first responders.
Capt. Ben Woodward with the Parkersburg Fire Department said the structure fire at 1115 37th St. in Parkersburg was reported at 11:43 a.m. Thursday and units from all six fire stations responded.
When firefighters arrived on scene, there was smoke showing from the entire roof since the fire started in the attic area due to an electrical issue, Woodward said. They were able to extinguish it in 10 minutes.
There was one occupant in the residence at the time of the fire who called it in, Woodward said. No injuries were reported. The names of the owners or occupants were not available Thursday, he said.
No damage estimate was available, but Woodward said fire damage was light to the first floor, except where firefighters had to go through the ceiling to reach hot spots in the attic.
The investigation was complete Thursday afternoon and the cause was determined to be accidental and electrical in nature, he said.
Responders cleared the scene at 2:04 p.m., Woodward said.
