Fire engulfed a house at 1713 Park St., Parkersburg, Tuesday morning.

PARKERSBURG -- Multiple people got out safely from a Park Street house that caught fire this morning, Parkersburg Fire Chief Jason Matthews said.
“A couple people (were) actually upstairs and actually came out on the roof and jumped off,” he said.
The fire started on the first floor of 1713 Park St., Matthews said, and apparently engulfed much of the two-story structure. It also damaged two neighboring houses, with melted siding and fire damage at 1711 Park St. and heat damage to 1715 Park, he said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
One person was taken to the hospital, Matthews said.
