Fire destroys two Parkersburg homes

By James Dobbs 1 min read

PARKERSBURG -- Area volunteer fire departments were called out about 5:40 p.m. Monday to a trailer fire on School Street off Core Road in Parkersburg which resulted in the destruction of mobile homes at the location.

Waverly VFD arrived on scene first and was followed by Wood County Sheriff's Department, St. Joseph's Ambulance Services and Mineral Wells, East Wood and Lubeck VFDs.

East Wood Chief Rob Utt said as far as officials can tell everyone made it out safely with no injuries. He said the fire started in the front trailer and then quickly spread to the back trailer. Both were "total losses," said Utt, meaning that nothing of value remained of the homes after the fire. Utt said the severity of the fire will make it hard to determine the cause of it.

No further information was available Monday evening.
