Man loses life in Gallia County crash

GALLIPOLIS -- One man was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Friday morning in Gallia County, the Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Terry R. Miller, 55, Oak Hill, Ohio, was killed when the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pick up truck he was driving on Ohio 233 near milepost 1 went off the left side of the road, the patrol said. He over corrected and the truck overturned several times, ejecting him from the vehicle before it came to rest on a guardrail, the patrol said.

A passenger, Willyim L.A. McDowell, 21, Oak Hill, was taken Cabell Huntington Hospital by medical helicopter with incapacitating injuries, the patrol said. McDowell was wearing a safety belt, the patrol said.

Miller, who was not wearing a safety belt, was taken to the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home, the patrol said.

The accident happened shortly before 5 a.m. and remains under investigation, the patrol said.
