Health and Wellness Day set for Saturday

3 min read

VIENNA -- The community is invited Saturday to the Grand Central Mall to see what kind of health and medical services are available locally.

The WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center's 2019 Health and Wellness Day will be open to all residents of the Mid-Ohio Valley Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

More than 75 exhibitors are expected to participate in this year's community-wide event dedicated to educating and informing area residents of innovations and enhancements being made at the hospital as well as to improving and maintaining health and wellness for families of all ages.

''This will be our third year at the mall and the 24th year for the Health and Wellness Day,'' said Louis A. Haer Jr., director of the Camden Clark Health and Wellness Center.

The medical center is partnering with the mall again as many in the community are gearing up to return to school later this month, he said. The mall is a large venue with the space to accommodate the exhibitors and visitors, he said.

''It is a casual setting that allows people to walk up to different vendors and be able to discuss different issues,'' Haer said.

Numerous free health screenings will be offered Saturday, including EKGs, bone density scans, blood pressure readings, in addition to an opportunity to receive vouchers for low-cost lab screenings.

Attendees will receive a voucher and gift once they visit at least 16 exhibitor tables which will be tracked through a passport people will pick up when they sign in. The lab vouchers can be used that day at two area locations or be used through August at any of the hospital's five diagnostic locations.

The EKG screenings will be held 9 a.m. to noon.

Representatives from hospital services and departments such as Primary Care, Pharmacy, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Radiology, Pulmonology and Oncology are just a few of the many departments participating. Outside exhibitors such as Parkersburg Cardiology Associates, WVU at Parkersburg, Highmark, United Way, MOV Health Department, Rehabilitation Therapy Services, Audiologists, and health and wellness companies from across the Mid-Ohio Valley will also be participating. Organizers said massage therapy, chiropractors and others would be featured.
