Williamstown student places in Top 10

WILLIAMSTOWN — A middle school student from Williamstown placed in the Top 10 among competitors at the 36th annual MATHCOUNTS competition at Braxton County Middle School last Saturday.

Annie Ngyugen of Williamstown Middle School finished 10th in the competition among students from 15 middle schools in West Virginia.

The top four individual winners will represent West Virginia May 11-14 in the National Competition in Orlando, Fla. Ryan Butler from Suncrest Middle School will coach the West Virginia National team.

The top three middle school teams were Suncrest Middle School, Triadelphia Middle School and John Adams Middle School.

The top ten individuals were:

1. Amy Lu, Suncrest Middle School

2. Lauren Shen, Suncrest Middle School

3. Austin Luo, Suncrest Middle School

4. Grace Yan, Suncrest Middle School

5. Grant Kenamond, Triadelphia Middle School

6. Joyce Hu, Suncrest Middle School

7. Kathryn Prather, Triadelphia Middle School

8. Pearl Zhang, Suncrest Middle School

9. Shawn Li, Suncrest Middle School

10. Annie Nguyen, Williamstown Middle School
