Vienna to accept bids for well upgrades

VIENNA -- Water wells seven and eight in Vienna are expected to get an electrical update soon.

According to Mayor Randy Rapp, the city will be seeking bids March 18 to upgrade the two wells' electrical systems.

"The upgrade will ensure that everything is new and ready to go once the wells are back to service," Rapp said.

The wells, located along River Road at the end of 32nd Street, are expected to be back in service by May, Rapp said in a previous Vienna Utility Board meeting.

This was among the discussion at Friday's Vienna Utility Board meeting.

Chemours will pay to construct activated carbon filter facilities for the city's water wells No. 7 and 8. In April or May, River Road will be closed and traffic diverted so a trench can be dug connecting the well field to the new filter system.

"We are still working with Chemours on all the details, but everything is coming together nicely," Rapp said.

Mike Davis with the city storm water management said the annual storm water meeting will take place in May.

The Vienna Construction Permit for the next five years became effective Feb. 9, Davis said.

"We use the permit for any clearing done in the city," Davis said.
