Snowfall leads to minor accidents on Mid-Ohio Valley roads

PARKERSBURG — Some traffic problems were reported Sunday as snow fell over the area.

Local law-enforcement agencies reported few problems Sunday evening. Many reported slick roads with some fender benders and minor accidents. Others reported having some cars go off the road and more.

Before 8 p.m. Sunday, a vehicle was reported on its side along Emerson Avenue, a supervisor at the Wood County 911 Center said. There were no injuries reported. Fire crews had the northbound lane closed so emergency crews could get the car moved, the supervisor said.

A winter weather advisory remained in effect until 4 a.m. this morning with snow, sleet and freezing drizzle at times.

“A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties,” the warning stated. “Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.”
