VIENNA -- The start of a new year marks the start of Ohio Valley University's new president, Michael Ross.
Ross has 25 years of leadership experience with non-profit health care organizations which served populations made vulnerable through disability or economic hardship. Ross said those jobs have prepared him to lead the university in "a new vision of educating the whole person."
"I have a great love for OVU and Christian education," Ross said. "OVU is needed in the Northeastern part of the United States. I want to lead the university to be the choice for private, Christian education in this area."
Ross and his wife, Kerry, attended OVU from 1986-1988, leaving only so he could pursue a degree in psychology at Harding University. He earned his bachelor's degree there in 1991 and is currently completing his MS in Management and Leadership through Western Governors University.
Ross said he plans to be a "catalyst" for the university, one who guides the development of "individuals capable of making a difference in the world in which they live."
Ross said his tenure marks a "new day" for OVU, and yet throughout the changes and challenges, "honored traditions" will be valued.
"My greatest role is to be your leader," he said.
