PARKERSBURG -- WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center named Whitney Riggs, BSN, RN, CV Intermediate, as its 2018 Nurse of the Year during a recent hospital event.

Selected from among 12 nurses nominated by their peers and nursing leadership, Riggs' selection took place during the week-long National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week May 6-12.

In her nomination, Riggs was noted to exemplify nurse engagement as she is relentlessly positive and compassionate with her peers, patients and their families. She represents the organization's ICARE values of Integrity, Commitment, Accountability, Respect and Excellence in her daily professional practice and in interactions with everyone she encounters, the hospital said.

Riggs has been a member of the Advanced Care/Critical Care Team for five years and has successfully mentored several new staff members along the way. She serves as a member of the Patient Experience Steering Committee, the Pressure Ulcer Prevention Team and was a participant in recent Baldrige Award examinations.
