ATHENS, Ohio -- An Athens man and woman were indicted Friday on charges related to the death of a 3-month-old boy, as well as drug abuse.
Jerry Wayne Andresen, 21, and Christina Leigh Hazlett, 23, were indicted on felony charges of murder, aggravated murder and involuntary manslaughter in relation to the March 12 death of Hazlett's son. They are also charged with two felony counts of endangering children, one count of felonious assault, one count of permitting drug abuse and three misdemeanor counts of domestic violence, as well as a misdemeanor permitting drug abuse charge.
Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said the two are accused of "not only allowing the trafficking of drugs in and out of their residence, in addition to using drugs themselves, but also causing physical harm, not only to each other, but to the infant in the days and weeks leading up to the death of the infant."
Andresen and Hazlett are scheduled for arraignment on April 4.
This case was investigated by the Athens Police Department, with follow-up conducted by the Athens County Prosecutor's Office.
