Parkersburg man charged with 4 sexual assault counts
PARKERSBURG — A Parkersburg man accused of sexually assaulting a younger family member multiple times is in jail on a $20,000 cash bond.
Michael Scott Rittenhouse, 25, was arrested Friday on four counts of third-degree sexual assault, according to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court. Parkersburg Police Lt. Greg Nangle said a family member brought the situation to the department’s attention.
According to the complaint, Rittenhouse engaged in sexual contact or intercourse with the minor while they were living in the same Parkersburg residence, not his current address, between early December and Feb. 14. He allegedly admitted the acts to police and said he was concerned about going to jail because he had been confined from the age of 12 until 20 for having sexual contact with the same individual when he was around age 12.
