Camden Clark offers health screenings
PARKERSBURG — Camden Clark Medical Center will hold its Reduced-Cost Screening Event on Feb. 24 at the Health and Wellness Center, 2804 Birch St.
The event, which doesn’t require a physician order or appointment, includes reduced cost blood screenings, thyroid function and prostate screenings and free pulmonary and EKG tests.
Sponsors are Parkersburg Cardiology Associates and the medical center.
Participants should not eat or drink anything but water for 12 hours prior to the screening. Checks and cash will be accepted.
Reduced-cost screenings will be held from 7-10 a.m. Costs are:
∫ $25 reduced-cost blood screening
∫ Additional $5, Cardiac Reactive Protein Test
∫ Additional $5, Thyroid Function Test
∫ Additional $5, Prostate Screening Test
∫ Additional $5, Hemoglobin A1c
Medical tests will be held 8-11 a.m.
Free EKG, Pulmonary Function and DermaScan (sun damage assessment) tests will be available. A bone density scan is $5.
Doctors from Parkersburg Cardiology will be available for the EKGs, said Louie Haer, director of the Health and Wellness Center.
“Which is huge,” he said.
Tests will not require a doctor’s referral, Haer said. However, the blood tests require fasting and if something is found that should have further examination, a referral will be made to a doctor, he said.
The quarterly health screenings started four years ago as a way of community outreach, he said. The screenings have expanded, starting first with the blood tests and extended to include the EKG, pulmonary and other tests, Haer said.
“We’ve really expanded on what we offer now,” he said.
