PARKERSBURG — On Jan. 3, Parkersburg Police Patrolman First Class J.L. Blake responded to Wal-Mart at 2900 Pike St. in reference to a shoplifting that had already occurred.

Upon arrival, Blake spoke with Wal-Mart loss prevention personnel, who said they were alerted by Vienna Wal-Mart about a subject who allegedly stole several pieces of jewelry from the store on Dec. 31, 2017, police said. Loss prevention personnel reviewed security footage and discovered the same suspects had also stolen jewelry from the Pike Street Wal-Mart, city police said.

Blake reviewed the surveillance video which shows a light colored, possibly silver, minivan enter the Wal-Mart parking lot and park in what appears to be a handicap spot in front of the right side of the store, said police. Two male subjects exit the vehicle and enter Wal-Mart on Dec. 31, 2017 at 8:47 a.m.. The older male subject, who appears to be in his 30s, is described as a white male wearing a bright orange shirt which has the words “Tapout” on it, police said.

The other suspect is a white male wearing a black tracksuit with white stripes and a red Nike baseball cap, police said. He appears to be in his late teens or early 20s. The two suspects walk around the store for several minutes occasionally returning to the jewelry section, police said.

At 9:06 a.m. the suspect wearing the orange shirt attempts to take a large watch display off the counter but discovers it is secured with a cable, police said. The two suspects then surround the rotating necklace display which is secured with a lock, police said.

Photo Provided Parkersburg Police said this van may have been used by two men who allegedly took jewelry items from the Pike Street Wal-Mart.

The suspect wearing the orange shirt appears to pry open the necklace display and select several items. Both suspects appear to conceal the items on their person and then leave the store exiting on the left side of the store at 9:11 a.m., passing all points of sale, police said. Both suspects then enter the minivan and leave the area.
